Clay Beauty Spa Email Marketing Copy Project

The Client

Simonne R. is a Montreal-born & raised esthetician and the founder of Clay Beauty Spa.

She’s a multi-passionate, multi-talented entrepreneur (of course, next to myself lol), who also is a macrame artist, painter, and fashion designer.

For many years, Simonne struggled with her skincare issues, leaving her lost and frustrated. She wanted to find a way to treat skincare issues using natural ingredients that are both sustainable and attainable to her target audience and provide women with an experience that feels like they elevated their skincare routine.

Simonne approached me for this project because she recognized that she was not paying attention to her email list. She felt overwhelmed by writing newsletters and only engaged with her subscribers when she had something new to sell or a special event to advertise.

Because of this, Simonne has seen a gradual decline in her email list and sought help to change that.

Target Audience

Her target readers care deeply about skincare and the environment and how they both intersect. They actively look for products that are good for their skin and sustainable, and they understand the negative effects of harmful lifestyle choices on the planet and take steps to protect its resources.

Unique Selling Point

Simonne has learned through her time as a fashion designer that so many resources are used to make one item of clothing. For example, to make one t-shirt, a manufacturer has to use 2700 liters of water!

Knowing how unsustainable fast fashion is, Simone has taken her knowledge of sustainability and combined it with her passion for skincare. She only sources naturally sustainable ingredients and refuses to use ingredients that are harmful to our skin and the future of our planet.

The Goal

The goal for Clay Beauty Spa was to find a way to connect with their audience and deliver valuable information, education, and, of course, their products!

Simonne knows that her audience - Millennials & some Gen Z’ers - usually follow a lot of social media. Still, she found that social media only gives quick snippets of knowledge, where she’s looking to do something different.

Simonne understands that Millennials and some Gen Z'ers often use social media to get their source information.

Although her target audience uses social media a lot, she has discovered that social media only provides brief pieces of information that are sometimes construed and inaccurate.

Simone wants to offer a unique experience different from other skincare businesses.

Simone wants more people to subscribe to her email list because it's not impacted by algorithm changes or possible shutdowns like social media. She sees it as a perfect platform to promote her brand.

The Deliverables

  • Lead magnet + newsletter content strategy with outline & template

  • Brand strategy, customer persona, and market research

  • Welcome email sequence & opt-in form copy

The Final Outcome

It’s always a great feeling when you work with a client to achieve their goals, and Simone felt that goal was achieved.

By tapping into her target audience using words they often speak and tapping into their current pain points, within 24 hours of the new strategy she obtained, she gained 120 new subscribers!

She even saw an uptick in her monthly website visits, and her products sold because of the educational piece we added to her email newsletter strategy.

Simonne had always heard how powerful email marketing can be for business (especially for small businesses just starting out), but she never really took it seriously until now.

Her business has grown through subscriber count, sales, and customer engagement.
