How I Conduct a Pinterest Account Audit

See this content in the original post

A Pinterest account Audit is an examination of the current state of your Pinterest business account’s overall status, brand visuals, your message, and any other aspects of your Pinterest account that can improve your account growth.

As a Pinterest strategist, I often provide business owners with a Pinterest Account Audit when they are looking for improvements to their Pinterest account but not necessarily wanting to invest in a complete service packaging, but simply, wanting expert fresh eyes on their account to direct them in a path of growth.

My Pinterest account audits include everything from first impressions to the account, to market research, and lastly, strategic actionable steps for your business.

Take a look at my process to how I conduct a Pinterest account audit and reach out to me to receive your own audit of your Pinterest account!

Step 1 | The Client Questionnaire & Research

Before I begin my Pinterest account audit, I send my client a very detailed questionnaire.

This questionnaire is similar to the questionnaires I provide my clients when I am signing on a management or a Strategy Intensive client. It helps me to understand my client’s goals, target audience, their branding, marketing strategies & your unique selling proposition.

While I’m going through the questionnaire, I am also doing my own market research into who you admire in your industry and why (a question I ask as well in the questionnaire). I find this important because this gives me an idea of who you admire in your market, even if they may be a “competitor” in your niche market. Even though we may be in a niche market, there are similarities between each business. You may like that a fellow competitor has amazing visuals and that’s something you would love to improve on in your business. Questions like this help for me to view your industry/niche from the eyes of your market and help me to understand where you can improve your Pinterest account.

All through this stage, I am taking extensive notes to later apply to your audit report.

Step 2 | The Initial Review

When you book with me, I like to find out about your business. I begin with a Pinterest account audit by doing an initial review.

An initial review is an overall glance at your Pinterest business account, your profile + profile description, boards, account cohesiveness, and how the transition relates to your linked website and social media accounts.

At this stage, I find it’s very important to take off my ‘Pinterest expert’ hat and see your Pinterest account from the eyes of a client or customer. This is so important as I want to view your brand/business from your target audience or user’s experience (UX). From here, it helps me to understand what words you’re using to attract your audience, what visuals your using to draw them in emotionally, and what information is missing or could be improved upon to meet your audience’s needs. Usually I find one of the most important things a lot of business owners do well on one platform but sometimes miss on Pinterest is by clearly defining who you are, who you serve & what you can do for them/why they should choose you over the next.

Step 3 | Review Process

Now that I have all my client’s questionnaire answers and I have done my market research, I am ready to meet with the client for the review process.

I open up the review process detailing how I viewed your Pinterest business account from a user’s viewpoint and then how I reviewed your account from a Pinterest expert’s viewpoint and experience.

I walk through the review process with the client and show them what I have learned from their brand/business, their unique qualities, the authenticity of their unique value proposition, and where improvements can be made. Typically, there is a period of time where the client and I have a discussion about my findings and our review process ends with a formal report.

Step 4 | The Action Plan

At this last stage of the audit process, I combine my notes and ideas in combination with your thoughts & ideas into the action plan.

I love providing steps & recommendations that are easy to follow and for you to implement into your business that will bring you closer to your goals. Many clients have various goals they would like to achieve for their business such as increased email sign ups, booking of their services, or how many pageviews they would like to achieve.

Sometimes the changes are as simple as changing out the font selection on their website, Pinterest graphics, or something as significant as re-writing their sales page for conversion and retention.

Each plan is completely customized for each client where I provide you with the steps you need, resources to refer back to, and encouragement & support to elevate your Pinterest business account in the way it deserves.
