How To Make Time for Pinterest in your Business

Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links and if you go through them to make a purchase, I will earn a commission. Keep in mind that I only share about companies that I truly believe in.

I hear & I see you out there.. yup, YOU!

You keep saying to yourself, “I don’t have time to learn Pinterest! It’s too complicated and confusing!”

Bloggers, creators & businesses in general I find are not utilizing the powerful effects that Pinterest can have for you. I see it all the time.

In your business, you make time for so many things. You make time to schedule out posts, pay your bills, respond to emails, and follow up on customer’s requests. Just like with all these other tasks, it’s so important to find time to schedule Pinterest into your marketing workflow.

In this post, I’m going to share with you the simple ways you can make more time for Pinterest in you business starting now.

Have A Strategy

The one thing that takes the sting out of Pinterest is having a solid marketing & content strategy. As with anything in life, you need a good strategy that will take you from point A to point B - in this case, take your site visitors to paid customers.

First off, if you want to build the like, know & trust factor, it’s best you start blogging a minimum of 2 - 4 times a month.

Some businesses & bloggers are able to crank out even 5-6 blog posts per month which I find is phenomenal, but for the everyday business, even if you can focus on 2 blog posts a month & then reassess your strategy after a time period, do just that.

I find nowadays, all you need to do is start with a manageable task first. Overwhelm is not what we’re trying to go for here.

But, what about if you don’t have a blog? What if you only have Instagram, Facebook, or Youtube?

In this post, I explain to you why it’s important to have a blog for your business, but even if you’re still not wanting to blog, you can re-purpose your content!

Take your IG Lives, IG stories or your Facebook tutorials and turn them into Pinterest video Pins!

Pinterest video is taking over by storm and more people are realizing the power of visual interest and storytelling this way. There are many tutorials out there you can come across that will show you how to use video Pins for Pinterest but my favorite way to create video pins is with Canva (<— this is a referral link that will give you Canva credits towards any paid options they offer!).

Just make sure whatever you share to Pinterest is optimized for Pinterest. What you do for these social media outlets will not work the same way for Pinterest, so please do recognize this. If you are ever needing help managing your Pinterest or getting an understanding of it, I have a FREE 5-Day The Power of Pinterest Email Course for you to sign up to!

What some people may not know is that you can also share promotional or educational materials instead.

If you have a sale going on, share it. If you have a newsletter sign up, share that too! The point is that you make time for Pinterest in your business by sharing ANYTHING that would attract your ideal client.

Make Great Pin Graphics

Another great way to gain more visibility in your business is to invest some time in making great Pinterest graphics. Pinterest images are the first thing people will see when they scroll through their feed.

Most business owners don’t know how to make Pins or simply don’t have enough time to create them.

The good thing about knowing how to make your own Pins is that:

1) you’ll have more control over how your images are portrayed online to attract your ideal client instead of hiring out this service to a graphic designer (**cough, cough..which is quite pricey!)

2) the more you practice at making a few Pin templates, the better & quicker you’ll be at pumping out your own Pins!

Because Pinterest is a visual search engine, your Pin graphics need to stop someone mid-scroll!

Recent stats from Pinterest states that over 320 million active users per month are using Pinterest! That’s a lot of users that are looking for your blog post, products or services. In order to create great Pins, here are a few important points to keep in mind:

  • Create only vertical images. Horizontal graphics are not widely used on Pinterest and will not generate well in your favor. Furthermore, vertical pins are most optimized on Pinterest. Stick to pin graphic sizes at a 2:3 ratio, which simply is an images width is 2/3 its height. Some of these image sizes that are used are the most optimized pin size at 1000px X 1500px, but you can also use sizes such as 600px X 900px, 1200px X 1800px, or 2000px X 3000px.

  • Stick with a colour palette and style that is consistent with your brand. I have 5 main colours that I use for all my images. When I want to change up the colour, I can always tone down the saturation or play with the transparency of the colour.

  • Make sure to add your logo or your business website's name. There’s a lot of pin theft going on in the Pinterest world and to deter someone from stealing your pin, it’s best to do either one. Not only will adding your information to your pin help against Pin theft, it also builds credibility and establishes like, know, and trust.

  • Always put a call-to-action (CTA) in your Pin as a bit of a teaser. You can use saying like, “Free Download!” tend to catch people’s attention to want to click.

Making Pins doesn’t have to seem like a chore, and I don’t want you to ever think of it that way. I want you to feel like you’re making all the right steps in your business, that’s why I created these Pinterest Template Bundles for Canva.

These templates are what truly allows me to batch out a giant amount of Pins in 20 minutes - flat. It’s a plug & play system - you add in your images, write your text, add some overlay and you’re done! Quick & simple, made just for you.

I know a lot of entrepreneurs are on a very tight budget right now due to the pandemic crisis we’re currently in. That’s why I made these template bundles available for a special price discount where you sign up to get $5 off your Pinterest Bundle for Canva!

That’s right! If you sign up, you’ll get these templates for $9! Pretty cool, huh? Trust me, when you have templates that are created, it’ll take the guesswork out of making Pin graphics and allow you to have more time for other things in your business!

You will get 5 Pinterest Templates you can use for your blog posts, promotional products & materials, or anything you’d like! These templates also come with a full customization guide to help you through the mechanics of making Pinterest graphics in Canva and give you that brand visibility to stand out of the crowd!

Discover Your Ideal Client

Have you taken the time to think about who your ideal client is? I don’t just mean thinking about the perfect person who you think is best suited for your business, but have you REALLY taken the time to understand them?

When you’re thinking about your ideal client, I want you to consider these things:

  • where do they live?

  • what meals do they like?

  • where do they like to travel?

  • do they have a family?

  • what’s their career?

  • are they a spender or a saver?

But most important to these questions is… do they even spend their time on Pinterest?

Because it’s great and dandy if you’re making all this content and putting it out there, but if your ideal client favors Instagram over Pinterest, then your efforts won’t get you closer to your goal. You make time for Pinterest in your business by taking an hour out of your day to really hone in on who your ideal client is. This will help you focus your marketing & your message to your audience on Pinterest.

Get An Email List!

One of the quickest ways to get more visibility & growth for your business is with an email list & promoting it on Pinterest!

Many business owners, blogger, or creative entrepreneurs struggle with getting more eyes their way. But my friends, I’m going to let you in one a little secret.

You’ll get more leads & grow your business simply with an email list.

Yes, an email list is your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There are so many creative entrepreneurs who fear asking people to sign up to their email list. They don’t want to be a bother or seem pushy or sales-y to anyone who’s interested in their message.

If this is you, you’re simply leaving money on the table and I never want you to think that way.

I once read a quote by someone who said: “You have to work ON your business not IN your business.”

Essentially how I interpret this message is: you need to think of the long term effects of your business actions & goals and take the time to invest in things that will provide a positive return. Don’t invest in things that are meaningless and task-oriented that will blind you with their flashing lights with not much forward movement.

Your email list are devoted fans - the type of people make your business thrive! Not only do these people willingly give you their email address but they are the ones who will most likely open your emails!

They are the ones who are pinning, sharing, and talking about what you have to offer and will ultimately be the ones who makes the sales!

You have a limited time membership that you’d like to book out? You need an email list.

You have special Easter weekend sale you want to promote? Get yo’ self an email list!

Or, how about a new idea you have that you’re not sure about? Who do you ask? You’d ask the people on your email list!

You get where I’m going?

If you’re introverted & unsure how to get started with an email list, I encourage you to start with a free offer/opt-in/freebie.

What you’ll do is create a free guide, checklist, or e-book that addresses your audience’s pain points and promote it to them on Pinterest in exchange for the email address.

PEOPLE LOVE FREE and it’s one of the most searched and saved items on Pinterest to date.

In my resource library, I have a few opt-ins that people love. You can check it out here you can check out if you’d like.

These freebies are what I promote with Pinterest and it has resulted in me building my email list from 23 subscribers (yes! I had that many on my list!) to now over 300 subscribers in three months, simply from creating freebies.

Free offers are one of the best ways for people to come in contact with your services, your knowledge, and builds that credibility in your niche. I work with many service providers & creative entrepreneurs who are introverted and don’t feel comfortable

Investing in an email list will skyrocket your engagement & conversions, you’ll be laughing to the bank!

So there you have 3 simple reasons why you need to make time for Pinterest in your business. I hope I’ve given you a few ideas you can implement in your business strategy, to sky-rocket your business & create the freedom you desire.
